Description

While a box housing flourescent tubes is the simplest form of creating illuminated signage, and the most common, it is important to choose correctly between the almost infinite variety of combinations of materials, construction methods and decoration options - depending on the size, purpose and environmental application of the sign.

Construction

Smaller boxes may be constructed from perspex, with larger formats incorporating steel frames and cladded with panels of plastic, fibreglass, aluminium or steel.
There are also several proprietary pre-manufactured systems available utilising extruded aluminium sections for frames with fitted panels for cladding.

Decoration

Decoration on faces of translucent Perspex (for smaller sizes) or flex face systems (see chapter 2), may include combinations of flat, printed or 3D lettering and graphics as illustrated in this manual.

Finishes

Spraypainting, powder coating or pre-coated finishes are applicable, with special attention to weather-proofing for exterior applications.

1. Indoor or outdoor applications
2. Shop fascias
3. Shop & shopping centre interiors
4. Hotels and restaurants
5. Advertising posters & hoardings
