Description
Vacuum forming is a process in which a sheet of thermo-plastic material such as ABS is formed to shape over a mould using heat and vacuum.
The plastic sheet is secured over an airtight chamber and softened by heating. A mould of the letter to be formed (having been placed in the chamber) is brought up towards the softened plastic and the air is pumped out of the chamber, sucking the plastic down into the shape of the mould. Positive or negative moulds can be used.
Illumination
Internal neon illumination is used to light the translucent plastic. Halo effects onto the backround are also possible.
